• support the hose at appropriate points with slings
• support the hose near manifold connections
• protect the hose against sharp edges (the edge of the pier, the vessel's guard rail)
• visual inspect hoses before each operation and before conducting hydrostatic tests
• test for electrical continuity
• Drain and clean hoses after each transfer
